Transport of a wheelchair user in a vehicle
In order to provide more safety and protection for the transport of a wheelchair user in a vehicle, you will find following important information: for the SORG models approved for use as a seat in a vehicle, for transporting wheelchairs, for the wheelchair restraint system and for the attachment points to our models.
General Information
General Information
All products from SORG that have been successfully tested to ISO-7176-19 and consequently approved as a seat for transport in a vehicle are marked in the product literature with the adjoining icon.
In addition, the type plate of the successfully tested model contains the hook symbol. A list of all models and their connection can be found in the following instructions for use.
Most of our models are available with a factory mountable SORG transport restraint system with a possible connection for a belt. When using a transport restraint system from another manufacturer, we ask you to get in touch with the manufacture to determine if it is suitable for transport in a vehicle. The valid cultivation guidelines are then taken from the respective manufacturer´s description.
Please note that because of their purpose (good handling, high functionality and weight reduction) wheelchairs can never achieve the stable characteristics of a firm-mounted seat system, which still provides the best protection for the occupants. Therefore, we recommend whenever possible to use the seat systems and the associated seat belts, which are firmly screwed in the vehicle and to sit the user into them.
Further information, the approval list and the model-specific connection can be found in our Instruction for wheelchair transport in motor vehicle.
