Hugo Sorg

The experience of our company founder Hugo Sorgs in the field of wheelchair development goes back to 1977. Together with Erich Purkott, he founded the company Sopur in Malsch and revolutionised the wheelchair industry, especially in the field of sports wheelchairs. An absolute innovation of that time was the individual colour design of the manufactured wheelchairs, which were previously only available in the classic chrome design. However, new standards were also set in terms of function, as the new wheelchairs were significantly lighter than those previously available on the market, not only in the sports sector. This innovative spirit in functionality and design led to the continuous growth of Sopur over the following ten years.

1987
Company formation

After leaving Sopur, Hugo Sorg founded the company SORG Rollstuhltechnik GmbH+Co.KG, which specialises in individual manual wheelchairs. Special attention is given to children's rehab and special construction in order to provide people with disabilities with well thought-out care specifically adapted to their needs from an early age. Since then, SORG Rollstuhltechnik has introduced many pioneering innovations in the rehabilitation market, such as the frame abduction, which offers the user the greatest possible legroom.

1995
From the garage into a newly built production hall

The concept of individual production is showing its effect. SORG Rollstuhltechnik expands capacity by building a new production hall and moves to its current location in order to offer permanently high quality through optimised processes and a multiplication of the previous production area.

2006
Doubling the previous capacity

Due to constant growth and continuous improvements of the products, a doubling of the previous capacity will again be necessary in order to be able to continue to offer customers the usual high quality and service. SORG relies on modern production methods such as CNC machining in order to be able to manufacture the required components in the desired quality in Germany itself.

2008
Responsibility for the future

SORG is taking an important step in terms of ecologically sustainable production, in that over 100% of the electricity consumed can be produced by its own photovoltaic system and without CO2 emissions. This is how SORG shows responsibility for the future.

2009
Generation change

In the course of the generational change, Marcel Sorg joins the management of the company and thus ensures the continued existence of the company in family hands for the future. He takes over all management tasks and thus complements Hugo Sorg, who can now devote himself fully to technical innovation and product development again and use his more than 30 years of experience in the field of wheelchair development.

2012
Construction of another large production hall

Thanks to a constantly good order situation and the trust our customers place in us, it has once again become tight in our production halls. The construction of another large production hall was thus decided and carried out. The new hall now houses our raw parts production and we were able to further optimise production and internal processes by redesigning the production areas.

2017
30-year company anniversary

In 2017, we are celebrating our 30th anniversary and we are very proud of that. We look back on 30 wonderful years in which we were able to provide special people with innovative and special solutions. Sensitively taking up the wishes of these people and taking them seriously is still very close to our hearts today.

We are still in a steady growth phase. In order to be able to cope with the continuing good order situation, we have further expanded both in terms of personnel and structure. This enabled us to gain additional halls in the immediate vicinity and further expand our staff.

We thank you for the trust you have placed in us over the past 30 years and are already looking forward to the (at least) next 30 years.
